World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item lets players increase the gear rating of an item by up to 700 points and add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like a perfectly made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not change significantly after an upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Many weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a unit. This bonus can sometimes be more than the damage that an upgrade alone can do.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also reroll the stats of the base. While this is usually a good thing however, it could have negative consequences as well. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them unusable unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.
Armor items can be upgraded to improve their performance. This can boost the base defense of a chest or helm as well as belts and gloves. These can boost their strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the item menu. This will reroll the item and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor could make a an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poisons fire, magic, and other. This makes it easier to traverse difficult terrains. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health and it's crucial to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once item upgrading 've done the main side quest and completed the fountain in question you'll be able to speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor is different. It is possible to use anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in frigid conditions with a lot of enemies. Potions

Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available using tokens, gold, or fragments from rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to purchasing a new trinket. It is possible to upgrade the player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the old trinket but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer useful, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other items of gear they won't replace soon (for instance an earring or cloak). When deciding on the items to upgrade, players must also take into account the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
After they've become unusable trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1percent bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
